ALMAC Cars (a division of Matamata Panelworks) can build you a state-of-the-art turn-key Shelby Cobra replica based on the most iconic of all Cobras – the 427SC (Street Competition).

Since buying ALMAC Cars from the founder (Alex McDonald) in May 2024, our team have re-engineered every aspect of the ALMAC 427SC to take advantage of modern components, current engineering practices and high-tech manufacturing processes.
Not only are our cars beautifully hand-crafted and a pleasure to look at, but with four different powertrain packages to choose from, they also perform like no other Cobra replica built in the past!

Chassis

A chassis is a cars foundation and determines how it feels the moment you turn the steering wheel. At Almac we didn’t rework someone else’s frame, we started with a clean slate and designed our own state-of-the art chassis with purpose-built components, no donor parts, no shortcuts, just focussed engineering resulting in rigidity, balance, driver feedback and control.

Here’s a few things that set an Almac Chassis apart from the rest:

  • The CAD-designed ladder-style frame offers exceptional rigidity and torsional strength, enhancing both turn-in response and load transfer performance

  • CAD designed suspension geometry and pick up points tuned in-house for predictable and responsive handling

  • Low centre of gravity and minimal upper weight enhance handling, stability, and decrease body roll
  • Every chassis component is specifically designed and manufactured from new with no modified OEM parts or donor compromises

  • Equipped with front and rear crumple zones and functional roll-over bars, the Almac 427SC chassis complies with stringent safety regulations and has been granted LVVTA certification

In contrast to the comfort-oriented systems typically found in everyday vehicles, the suspension and steering components on the Almac 427SC are engineered specifically for outright performance. These components work in harmony to deliver precision, responsiveness, agility, and a level of control required for dynamic driving, accurate cornering, and enhanced driver feedback.

Here’s what makes our suspension & steering the best:

  • Suspension geometry has been optimised and developed in-house to ensure linear, predictable, and highly responsive handling characteristics
  • Front and rear camber/castor adjustment for precise alignment
  • We exclusively use premium British-made Protech coil-overs, which offer full adjustability for both ride height and damping resistance
  • We install race-derived Group 4 quick ratio steering racks, featuring durable construction with a 25mm diameter rack shaft, 14mm tie rods and reinforced steel centre support tube equipped with phosphor bronze pinion support bushes to ensure exceptionally smooth operation

At Almac Cars we have engineered a bespoke 427SC braking package designed to exceed the demands of our high-powered engines and vehicle dynamics. This system provides exceptional stopping force, superior fade resistance, precise modulation and control, plus they also look damn good as well.

In a world full of Cobra replicas, our Almac 427SC bodies stand out from the crowd by providing structural integrity, safety and sophisticated design all within a single comprehensive package.

Our objective was to develop a body that is lighter, stiffer and more refined than the traditional single skinned construction method commonly adopted by most replica manufacturers. Our bodywork isn’t just a flimsy outer shell, it’s a critical structural component engineered without compromise.

Our Almac 427SC bodies feature:

  • High quality hand laid fiberglass outer body shell

  • Semi-monocoque construction with steel support structures, bulkheads and floor components all bonded to the outer shell to create an exceptionally solid body tub with strength, safety and rigidity right at its very core

  • Our bodies are built to last with no flex, no squeaks, no scuttle shake and will look as good in 10 years as it does the day it leaves our shop.
